I have noticed that people have been buying new equipment more than ever this year. The latest simulator equipment has enabled me to show you the difference in clubs and show you just how far the equipment has improved. You can see for yourself with clubhead speed and spin rates which are the clubs for you. See how far each club goes, compare their consistency and distribution and see how they compare to your own.
John Wright recently tried the Swing Studio and we checked the suitability of his set of PINGs which were a few years old. Straight away it was obvious from the strike marks towards the heel on the sole that John had been using irons that were too upright for some time. If you didn't know, I can do loft and lie corrections to your existing equipment. John will tell you that since we made his irons two degrees flatter, that they feel like a new set of irons. Last week he went and won Division Three of the August Medal with a superb nett 67.

Thank you to all the people who have already seen our new Swing Studio. For those who haven't, I can tell you this is a fantastic new facility and the technology the system uses borders on unbelievable! Still standing?
Several people have 'gone for a Burton' recently. A total mix of sun and heavy rain combined with wet grass and severe slopes could be to blame.
Keep an eye on the condition of your spikes/cleats as hidden away on the bottom of your feet it is too easy to just forget about them until you come to an abrupt halt hitting the ground.
If you have missing or worn spikes (as pictured here) bring them in and we will replace them.
Bionic Gloves
The Bionic glove could be one of the most beneficial pieces of kit you own. Originally designed for players with arthritis (or any condition which makes it harder to apply pressure to a club when you hold it), the Bionic glove has ridges on the pressure points of the fingers so it actually supports the club, helping a player to hold the club correctly and with a lighter pressure. Great idea!
They are so good that the majority of players who buy them have nothing wrong with their fingers, wrists or joints in general, but benefit from the better and lighter hold the gloves provide. They are perfectly acceptable for competition use, and a recent test conducted on a GC2 launch monitor (the same one as ours) proved that a player's swing speed increased when wearing a Bionic glove, thanks to the lighter hold and the improved wrist action. So of course when your swing speed increases you can hit the ball further.
We have new stock of both the leather and the all-weather products that are in now. If you haven't yet discovered these come and take a look, a Bionic glove could really help you.
The August Monthly Medal was played for across three Divisions. Division One was won by Chris Shaw with 75-8=67 beating Lee Addison on a card play-off. Division Two was won by David Ibbotson with a 78-13=65 also winning on a card play-off, from Mike Warburton. I saw Mike Warburton as he came off the 18th and I must say it's a credit to Mike that he's managing to walk round, let alone score a nett 65 as he looks in some pain from that dodgy hip. And as bizarre as it would seem, Mike is playing better golf than he has for ages. Mike explained that since his hip trouble he has been forced to shorten his swing, which has resulted in a more compact swing and much straighter shots! John Wright (with correctly fitted irons) won Division Three with a score of 88-21=67! The lowest gross was won by Adam Stott with a 68, and the twos were worth £6.41 each.
Our Pro's Stableford was won by Tony Foster with 39 points. Gareth Jones finished second with 37 points beating David Barrett on a card play-off. There were only two twos this week each worth £19. Click here to see the full results.
We had 81 entrants in the RV Open on Sunday, but due to heavy down pours of rain the course was unplayable by mid-afternoon. We will try again on Sunday, 20 September in place of the planned Invitation Day, so if anyone would like to put down please contact us in the pro shop. The sheet has filled up remarkably quickly already so if you would like to play be quick!
The Wednesday Section Medal saw Jamie Greig claim Division One with a score of 74-5=69. John Ebbs won Division Two with the best score of the day, a 76-10=66. Division Three was won by Kenny Barthram with 85-16=69. The twos were worth £7.42 each.

I had a brilliant birthday and was very surprised when I turned up to the Golf Club and I had a surprise 21st party and wasn't going to the dogs, even after all the members giving me advice on how to bet! Thank you to everyone that wished me happy birthday; came to my party and for all the cards and presents I received.
Tomorrow we have an Exchange Day with Bramhall Park Golf Club. So you go there and they come here (there is always someone who arrives here!). We will be playing a fourball betterball stableford, to book a tee-time use our BRS booking system as normal but make sure you are at Bramhall Park for your tee-time. There is a threeball looking for a fourth player at 10.50am if you fancy it? Sign in with their pro as normal.
