Medals and Majors are coming fast and furious now. The Norman Pike this weekend is followed by President Graham Kennedy's weekend next week. Both drawn competitions which you can enter via 'howdidido' (you need to be registered with them) or on the PSI terminal where you enter your scores. Failing this, just simply call us in the pro shop and we can put you in. The Norman Pike has a good entry but there is still the odd two looking for a third player in the afternoon. Call us in the shop if you wish to play.
Presentation next week - Sat 15 Aug at 6.00pm
The last presentation wasn't well attended, mainly due to the problems and delayed results from The Jubilee Trophy, and the fact many of the day prize winners were unaware they had won a prize. I know Dave has stepped in and sent out an email regarding this. Take a look at the list of winners here and please make every effort to support the club and Captain by turning up to receive your prize. And of course to drink your FREE pint! Those who have unclaimed vouchers can be seen here - are you on this list?
Curtis Brokenbrow, Bradley Brokenbrow and Liam Houghton triumphed in Saturday's 3-man team event with an eight better score of 90 points. Curtis said they weren't really going that well until suddenly the putts started dropping and they were eight better for the back nine alone. They only got wet for their last two holes so this was quite an advantage on what was a pretty foul afternoon. Curtis is one person who does have a good reason not to be at the presentation; Curtis flies out to America on Monday to begin his golfing scholarship so we won't be seeing him for a while. Good luck Curtis and I'm sure either Liam or Bradley will attend to collect the prize.
Dean Martin's 65 gross on Sunday has to be the round of the week, winning my Sunday Stableford with 43 points. Dean said before the round he was feeling good ahead of the game and had now fully recovered from Glastonbury (yes Glastonbury was a while ago but it has taken Dean a while!) Well done Dean, another great score! Andy White has found some good form and was surprised to only finish second, as you would be with 42 points. I saw Andy swing the club in the Swing Room recently and he has the potential to be a much lower player than the 18 handicapper he is at present. Click here for the full results.
I played in the English Women's Amateur Open Championship this week at St Annes Old Links. I really enjoyed myself this week as the course was in superb condition. There was a strong wind blowing in off the coast which made the course play tougher. I used my new PING G30 driver and 3-wood and hit them noticeably further with a much better flight; I think I will definitely be ordering the 7-wood to match. The back nine was certainly playing harder and proved costly for me this week. The greens were rolling true and were running fast, I putted really well this week and came away with a lot of positives.
More members have been benefitting from my new gapping service thanks to the GC2, and more members have been hiring out the Swing Room and doing this for themselves. It's easy, it's enjoyable and it will help you play better golf.
To book the swing studio call us in the pro shop and if it is available you can hire it.
The initial cost for members is £10 per 30 minutes, £16 per hour and of course you can use your pro shop credit to pay for your booking.
With the data we can work out whether you have a gap in your set (most common in lower irons) and can also show whether your clubs have moved slightly which can be altered using the loft and lie machine.
