Saturday, 4 July (tomorrow) we have a Ball Fitting Day taking place at the club with our good friends at Bridgestone; you can book a free of charge 10 minute assessment in which you will learn a little more about golf ball technology and what it can do for you.
Spaces are limited now but I can tell you it will suddenly be very popular tomorrow! Last year proved a great success with lots of people benefiting from Bridgestone balls. Our fitter will be here between 10:00am and 2:00pm, click here to pre-book your time.
GC2 - works outside too!
Last week I explained how you see your improvement in numbers using my GC2 launch monitor. You know; things like decreasing side spin, increased clubhead speed, straighter swing path etc which result in longer, straighter shots and lower scores with less effort. With the help of my tuition of course, otherwise you may see them getting worse!
But did you know I can pick up the GC2 and carry it out onto the golf course or practice area? Yes, it will fit into the pocket of a golf bag so whether it's a club fitting or better golf you are after, you can receive all the benefits and information from the GC2 when you are outside. You can also compare the ball flight you see to the results on the GC2, prepare to be amazed by technology right at the cutting edge of the industry.
Don't leave your game to chance, come and see me for the best possible service.
Abbie's week at Sandiway
Last week I played in County Match Week at Sandiway Golf Club. We had a really strong team and all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves all week. We managed to have some really big wins against Cumbria, Durham and Northumberland but came a bit unstuck against Yorkshire.
We played against Lancashire on the final day and needed to beat them to win the whole week, but unfortunately we lost 5-4. Lancashire were the eventual winners and Cheshire finished third. I had an amazing week and took many positives away from it. I am looking forward to improving my game and performance and reaching my target of scratch this year with the help of our Pro.
Jubilee Trophy this weekend - Have you entered?
This weekend is round one and two of The Jubilee Trophy, with rounds three and four following next weekend. I must say I have noticed that the draw 'sheet' looks noticeably more empty than usual for both days, particularly on Sunday.
You can enter The Jubilee Trophy and play on any of the four days that suit you. If you can only play on one of the days, you won't be able to win The Jubilee overall, but it is still well worth playing as there are prizes for each day of the competition.
If you are not sure, or if the computer has mistakenly refused your entry on the basis that you haven't entered for more rounds, contact us here or come to see us in the pro shop and we will put it right.
Sat 27 Jun - Well done to David Pilling winning the Heyrose Bowl on Saturday - pictured here. This is Dave's first major win and I am sure it won't be his last. He has been playing well for a while and this time held his nerve to record an excellent nett 65 so well done to him.
The computer cut David's handicap to 7.7 initially, but then it decided his score was worthy of an exceptional score reduction and cut his handicap to 6.6! Phil Porkster Houghton won best gross with 69, and also second nett with 67. The twos were worth £6.23 each.
Sun 28 Jun - There were some excellent scores in this week's Pro's Stableford. One person who is really enjoying his golf at the moment is Paul Donohue who was telling me how much he enjoys being here. Paul's performance has really improved over the last year so well done, Paul. Click here to see the comp results.
Wed 1 Jul - Dare we say too hot? The Wednesday Section Stableford was played in the hottest weather in July in history. Division One was won by John Seaton with 39 points. Division Two returned the two best scores of the day, Barry Cocksey's 43 points took the prize on countback from Josh Tunnicliffe. Last week Marc Singleton tried a utility club for the first time, before coming ack in highly enthused with his discovery and bought the club saying it was the 'only one he could hit!' Well done to Marc who won Division Three this week with 42 points, Marc's handicap has been chopped from 22 to 19! There were 11 twos each worth £5.81.
