Unfortunately, heavy rain ended Saturday's Cross Country early as the greens were flooded. Pity about the Cross Country but one person who still had a good result on the day was Paul Wade. The loss of the Cross Country meant that Paul was uncatchable and he wins this winter's Order of Merit.
Paul follows his Father Paddy who jointly won last year's Order of Merit with Alan Finney. Paul happened to be on the photo taken with the joint winners last year, so here it is again except this time Paul is the winner! Congratulations, Paul. Knockouts - The deadline to enter the knockouts is this Monday, yes Monday, 6 April. The entries are lower than usual and I suspect this is because the deadline seems to have crept up quickly this year. If you wish to play and are not yet entered please get organised as you only have this weekend left to get your entry in. Also, if you are looking for a partner let us know as we should be able to find you a good one!
Wednesday Section - There is a one off payment of £5 to join the Wednesday section for the year. This enables you to play every Wednesday in a white tee competition, it is a rolling start so you can turn up at any time and sign in with myself in the shop. There is a good crowd on a Wednesday and you can always get a game, even late after work.
Easter Weekend - This weekend is Easter weekend, I will be running a pro's running stableford, from Friday, Sunday and Monday.
Captain Allan Duffy was the first person to hit a driver in the new Swing Room as Allan played a few drives (in the dry) off the 1st tee at Kingsbarns prior to his Drive-In as Captain. Allan's swing was good and he hit every drive straight!
Outside was a little wetter and unfortunately we had to abandon the traditional Captain's Drive-In shotgun as the greens were flooded. The drive-in was very well supported and both Captains drove in with well-played shots. Allan is probably the only Captain I can remember who looked disappointed with a slight pull; Allan must have expected it dead centre of the fairway! Sheila's drive was A1.
I wish Allan and Sheila the best of luck as Captains and hope they have a great year.
Lots of people have already booked in for their free 10 minutes tour of the Swing Room so thank you. During this 10 minutes you will get to see the room, learn how it works and be able to hit a few shots on it. This FREE introductory offer is exclusive to members of Reddish Vale only and is available throughout April.
I am mad busy doing loads of lessons at the moment. I can now do both outdoor and indoor lessons, subject to your requirement and the weather. I video your swing and play it back so I can show you exactly what I see and then discuss necessary actions to help improve your game. I keep the footage and refer back to previous swings to show the improvements made. During the summer I have a 6 for 5 on all lessons. Let's start the season on the right path together and book your lesson in. Get in touch here.
There is only seven days until the start of the Masters. Rory McIlroy and Bubba Watson are always worth a bet but maybe a good outside bet would be Jordan Speith or Jimmy Walker. We are running a Masters Sweepstake that you can have a go on from Saturday. I remember the days when everyone wanted to draw Tiger Woods but how times have changed as Tiger this week dropped out of the top 100 in the world rankings.
A lot of sets have been in for re-gripping recently. With the start of the season upon us it is the perfect time for some new grips, the extra feel and tackiness is crucial. I have various grips in stock, with a variety of colours and styles, come and take your pick. I offer 6 for 5 on all re-gripping, bring your set in now!
