Greetings from Andrew Myers
Reddish Vale Golf Club - PGA Golf Professional

You will all be pleased to know that the Swing Room is now complete and we are taking bookings for it! Just contact the pro shop and we will tell you all about it, including how and when you can be in there using it. I have decided to give every member of Reddish Vale a FREE of charge 10 minute guided tour of the new facility. You can see what it is, how it works and put it to the test. My diary is extremely busy at present so I recommend that you book in as soon as possible. Get in touch here

Sat 28 Mar - Pro's Cross Country - This year's layout is a 14 hole par 57 played in teams of three. Two from three to count and then multiply, so two must score on each hole to get anything! But equally, if two players score well on a hole the points can tot up quickly. There is already an excellent entry but there are some twos looking for a third. So if you fancy a game in the most fun competition of the year get your name down!

Sun 29 Mar - Captains' Drive-In - I would like to wish Allan Duffy all the best for an excellent year as Captain, and Sheila Brookes another excellent year as Lady Captain. The drive in is at 1.00pm so please turn up and support the new Captains. The Drive-In will be followed by the Captains' Shotgun competition at 1.30pm. There are still a couple of spaces if you fancy it so please get in touch if you do.

Mon 6 Apr - Knockouts' Closing Date - Please enter the knockouts as soon as possible as the deadline for entries is Monday, 6 April. Yes it is nearly April already and this deadline date is just a week on Monday! As usual the cost is £5 per person per entry. Enter in the pro shop, pay on entry.

I must congratulate John Seaton on what has been an absolutely first class year as Captain of Reddish Vale. John has spent a tremendous amount of time at the Club over the past year and has been involved in just about everything.

John's path project was completed earlier this week and looks great. If you didn't already know, the new pathway is for the walk back from the 16th green to the 17th tee. Like many things that are started, this proved a bigger task than expected but we can see the proof of how worthwhile the effort has been now it is done. The new path provides a very pleasant walk along the river, a much safer route than walking back down the 16th into the path of drives coming the other way, and could also increase the speed of play.

Nick is hoping to have the 4th hole back in play as early as Saturday, 11 April. There may be some GUR necessary while some of the more delicate areas are protected a little longer, but Nick is hoping to have the hole fully open in time for the first major, the Founders Trophy on Saturday, 25 April.

I must say the hole looks superb and the contouring of the new bunker looks just right from the tee. I think the hole should play slightly easier and more like the stroke 17 that it is supposed to be.

Paul Wade is the current leader of the Order of Merit on 380 points and it is still all to play for with only one competition left.

Sat 21 Mar - Saturday's three man Texas Scramble was won by Ryan Jackson, Pete McDonald and Mike Thompson with 51.8. Mark Watkins, Phil Booth and Mike Canning finished second with 54. Third were Barry Hammond, Jeff Watson and Dave Machin with 54.8.

Sun 22 Mar - Greg Mitchell won Sunday's Pro's Stableford with 39 points, beating Jeff Crewdson on countback. Steve Smith finished third with 38 points. Prizes went down fifth this week. There were nine twos worth £6.33 each. Click here for the full results.

Wed 25 Mar - Wednesday's Pro's Stableford was won by Graham Withnall with 37 points. Mike Thompson finished second with 36 points beating Curtis Brokenbrow and Sam Phillips on countback. Click here for the full results.

Spring showers? No problem…

March is a funny month, weather-wise, and many of us do away with the waterproofs and try and make do with a sweater and light top. Often a bad decision, right?

ProQuip’s Ultralite waterproofs are just that, very light indeed; ideal for tucking away and pulling out when the weather can’t make up its mind. They’re also performance packed with an athletic appearance. Watch this video to find out more and come in store to have a look at some of your colour options.
