A time to appreciate and be grateful
This lockdown situation certainly makes you appreciate all the ‘normal’ things we had before. Going out for a meal, going to the pub, meeting people, browsing around fantastic shops, playing golf! The golf club represents all those things! And although things will surely be different for a while, how grateful we will be to have those luxuries back again!

Thank you for so many replies, three people had an educated guess that it was Andy Hart, as the next item on the letter was congratulating Andy on his 90th birthday. It was not Andy Hart. Although the image was from 49 years ago, it certainly conjured up a few memories from some of our longer serving members. Thank you to David Calvert who remembered that he was carrying Alan Stott’s bag that day. David thought it may be David Woolstencroft, but changed his answer to Fred Ackroyd at the 9th. The hole was correct David, but not the golfer. Three people answered both parts correctly, identifying Barry Swainson on the 9th tee. Our Club President David Ibbotson was the first to respond correctly and wins the balls. Mike Radcliffe and Phil Reeves also responded correctly. Thank you to Barry Swainson for supplying this image, and I would be grateful for any more images that you have the time to dig out and email me with!

eBay sales We are still selling lots of things on eBay, it would be great if you could bring in your unwanted clubs etc now, rather when we reopen!

Hatton outshines McIlroy Rory McIlroy opened the new European Tour season in an all-too-familiar fashion last weekend. The Northern Irishman was part of a fascinating tug-of-war battle with Tyrrell Hatton at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, only to be completely outplayed by Hatton during the final 18 holes. Just about every player’s bag was brimming with new, exciting-looking equipment; both Hatton and McIlroy heading into battle with brand-new drivers and fairway woods from their respective brands.
