Golf courses closed during lockdown What a shame about the directive from our government. I was not expecting golf courses to close during this second lockdown, especially considering schools, universities, supermarkets, public transport, DIY stores and countless other establishments can remain open. Regarding coronavirus; If anyone can think of a place in the whole Manchester area where you are less likely to spread coronavirus than out in the wide-open space and fresh air of a golf course please let me know! The petition to keep golf courses open was closed after only one day with over a quarter of a million signatures and dismissed by Boris Johnson the following day. It seems we are having a ‘blanket ban’ of all sports places to ‘keep things simple’ for us. It seems that as well as the safety, all of the physical and mental benefits of playing golf have been completely ignored. Kept simple, things seem ‘very messed up indeed’.

During lockdown Although the shop door will be closed as per forced government legislation, I plan to spend lots of time here as there are many things to keep me busy. Businesses are still allowed to trade via click and collect. If you wish to discuss any requirements or reserve any items just call the shop. I have lots of catching up with repairing and altering clubs. Things like re-shafts, re-grips, length of club alterations and loft and lie changes to name but a few. If you have any that need doing now is a good time so please get in touch. If you have any redundant clubs you would like me to sell for you on eBay, please let me have them as soon as possible. Second-hand clubs go for good money and quickly on eBay and the funds are added to your account in the shop. We were so busy this season I didn’t get time for many eBay listings but I will now.
Sorry, we don’t sell second-hand trolleys or bags this way.

Q. Ryan hit five shots on the 17th and walked off with a 3. How’s that possible? Thank you for an excellent response to last week’s question. There were two plausible explanations and one that actually happened. Firstly, there was no provisional ball played twice before finding the original ball and making 3, although this would explain it. Correct answer; Ryan’s first two tee shots both hit the overhead wires before Ryan made a ‘3’ with his third ball. What was also a coincidence was that the first two correct answers were received at the very same second, so both Paul Mumford and Tony Barnes receive a free sleeve of balls of their choice.
