Happy New Year
I hope everyone had a lovely break and are ready to take on the course again. We have been extremely busy here all over the Christmas period which is great for the club. We had a society of 52 play on Monday 29th December.
Well done to Bill Coll who is the lucky winner of the Christmas Draw. Once again we have a new winner as in all previous years; Bill wins a new Motocaddy S1 Electric Trolley.
Second receiving a PING Cart Bag is Steve Bardsley; Steve is one of the best supporters of the draw along with Bernard Murray so it should be no surprise when they win something. Mike Oates gets third prize winning a Skycaddie Aire. Thank you to everyone who entered the draw.
Stock for 2015
New stock is arriving all the time, ready for the new season to start. Just yesterday a delivery of the new range of this year's FootJoy shoes arrived. Make sure you get in there quickly as we currently have a wide range of sizes. More options of the fantastic new Titleist 915 in demo are due to arrive any day now.
There will be new and different products in 2015. Some that have impressed me enough to stock them are the new ECCO shoes, FootJoy apparel, and Wilson clubs, balls and gloves. You will also find more Glenmuir clothing in stock this year.
GC2 simulator
You will be aware of my planned indoor swing room with GC2 flight simulator. I am pleased to tell you that progress is once again being made and if all goes according to plan this should be available within weeks. I must confess I am really excited about it and I look forward to introducing you to this amazing piece of technology. This new facility will be warm and dry whatever the weather, and will supply amazing feedback on all your shots. The GC2 system is simply second to none, and over the next few weeks I will explain exactly what it is and how it can improve your game.
Saturdays comps
The 5 Club Texas Scramble was won by Crispian Logue, John Ford and Mike Short.
3 Man Team Bogey was won by Tony Barnes, John Schofield and Gareth Jones with a score of 11 up.
The 2 from 3 Stableford was won by Porkster Houghton, Robin Titterington and Duncan Cheslett with 74 points.
The order of merit is getting closer at the top, with plenty of comps left for you to move up to the top of the leaderboard. Here is the up to date OOM.
Pro's Stablefords
We've had five Pro's Stablefords since Christmas and two just before. There have been some magnificent scores and one quite outrageous one. Paddy Weadick's 47 points on Sunday 28th December is the highest stableford score I can remember even since junior days; and you would have thought Paddy must have played out of his skin for that. Apparently not though; bizarrely Paddy said that he had topped, thinned and even shanked the ball into the hole all the way round and was just incredibly lucky on the day. Handicaps didn't buy that and have cut Paddy but only by the one shot due to the winter greens in play.

Special shots
Jagermeisters all round! Paul Wheelton achieved a most unusual golfing feat and I would say the best '2' of the year by holing a four iron for an albatross at the 15th. The albatross which is far more unusual than a hole in one is the only one I can recount in my time at Reddish and was scored in the 3 man bogey on December 27th. Paul said it was all thanks to the Jagermeisters he had the night before and Paul went on to celebrate the feat with some more shots of Jagermeister.
David Hollington has though and it's our first one of 2015. David loves his PING K15 5 wood so much that he was contemplating a 3 wood to match it. With David's already low ball flight I suggested he stick to the 5 wood and it was this which holed in one. The ace which is David's first hole in one came at the 2nd in Tuesdays' seniors' stableford. David didn't hit the Jagermeisters but was so pleased he came in and treated himself to a new set of irons instead!
Derek Wilson has told me about how a former member Mike Batty (known for his long hitting) once had a hole in one at the 16th some years ago. As far as I know this albatross hole in one is the only one ever scored on the hole. I had an albatross myself a few years ago, holing a 2 iron to the par 5 5th at Moor Allerton Golf Club - but no hole in one yet!
