Golf course DIY Who needs Alastair MacKenzie when we’ve got Adie Ord? Adie has been busy designing and constructing his own 5 hole course in the back garden during this lockdown. Thank you to Adie who sent me the photos and explained as follows; “I have attached a photo of my new course in the garden, consisting of 5 holes. I can play them one at time from each tee, or play them all from the same place, varying my distance between 15 yards up to 45 yards.” And if you have time for a quick warm-up before your tee off, Adie has also constructed a driving net “by way of a builders bag, but does the job pretty well!” I’m sure we would all appreciate a round on Adie’s back garden at the moment! If you are desperate to get out and do some practice, see what you can come up with because it will definitely beat painting. If anyone else has had a go at knocking something up please take some photos and send them in. If anyone can improve upon Adie’s initiative I will be very surprised.
Swing studio DIY More people are creating their own indoor facility in their house. Perhaps you have a spare room or a garage with a high enough ceiling to work? You basically need enough room to swing a club and you are away. There are numerous launch monitors on the market now that are pretty decent and much cheaper than the GC2 I use at the club. You need a screen; you need a mat and some software to make it work. If you would like any information or advice regarding the creation of your own indoor studio I will be able to help you so feel free to contact me.
