Let's get through it together

Coronavirus is having a massive effect in these unprecedented times and I would like to wish all readers, golfers and your families’ good health.

I am confident we did all we could to ensure safe golfing here at Reddish Vale but that opportunity has been taken away for now.

I hope in the future we will be thanking the government for its actions and hopefully, this will reduce the spread of the virus, save lives and get it over with sooner; so that daily life can get back to something more like normal and we will appreciate things like getting out and playing golf all the more.

Knowing the members and the staff at Reddish Vale I am absolutely certain we will come through these hard times together.

Competition news

Results

We did have a few new measures in place, and it must have been a bit strange marking your own cards but Saturday’s individual Stableford went ahead, and we had 103 entries.

The results are as follows;

1st - Crispian Logue - 40 (cpo)
2nd - Brian Douglas - 40 (cpo)
3rd - Scott Carter - 40 (cpo)
4th - Ian White - 39
5th - Chris Marshall - 38 (cpo)

Winter Order Of Merit

You can click the link below to see the updated, and I presume the final standings in this year’s winter order of merit. Prizes go down to 5th like the weekly points placings.

I think the points totals have been much closer in all previous years, especially last year when Mick Burke ended up winning by 10 points on the last event the Cross Country.

Well done to this year’s ‘runaway winners’.

Hole In One

Last time Paddy Weadick had a hole in one I can remember how annoyed he was when he discovered that someone else had also holed in one on the same day, and his 50% of the 2’s pot became25%! ‘Yes that is how it works because you can’t have a 2’s pot with nothing for a ‘2’!’

Well done to Paddy who holed his tee shot at the 18th on Saturday! It was with a driver and apparently it looked good all the way, and it must have been absolutely perfect to remain in the shallow hole-cup.

Paddy’s 1 for 6 stableford points must be something of a record and I believe as a result, Paddy broke even on the side bets, and because there were no other holes in one Paddy deservedly wins £51.50, the full 50% of the 2’s pot!

As a result of Paddy’s ace, the 2’s were worth a mere £3.21 each.

Sunday Pro’s Stableford

John Booth’s 41 points was enough to pip Alastair Nadin on count back, and Ryan Jackson’s second gross 65 in four days this time won 3rd prize!
