Club fitting
You can have a fitting for any type of club, not just a set of irons. Whether it’s a putter or a driver there are always questions to be answered.
Reddish being a course with such a variety of green complexes; some fairly small and narrow, and some very undulating with plenty of bunkers means that unless you hit the green with your approach shot every time - you will need a good selection of wedges to do the job.
Do you have the wedges to do the job? Example wedge fitting as follows:
I can measure the lofts of your existing wedges – are they spaced correctly? And do they follow on from your pitching/gap wedge as they should? Do your wedges match each other? If you have gaps in your set there will be distances and situations that you will struggle with.
Lofts can be confusing because lofts on modern clubs keep changing.
Wedges can be tried in the swing studio and distances measured so you know exactly how far you hit each one. The lie angles on wedges are crucial because of their contact with the ground. Grip size and feel are very important with wedges. Do you have a steep or shallow angle of attack? This will influence the ideal bounce angle for you.
A little finding out could save you precious shots and increase your enjoyment of golf.
