Practice Ground Open
The practice ground is in between stages of the project at the moment. The newly grassed area has taken quite well, but clearly it is too early and not the time of year to be constructing the greens. So the practice area is open, but please do not play off the newly grassed area and please try to avoid hitting balls onto the new area. This also means that I am available for coaching as normal including Saturdays.Click here to contact me and book a lesson.
4th hole
Nick and his men are very busy re-shaping the bank on the right hand side. As you can see this is a major project that requires much material to be moved and the whole area to be completely re-shaped including the right hand bunker. This project is at an early stage but you can see the new bank starting to take shape. The creation of the new bunker will be one of the most important tasks that Nick faces, and if the bunker on the 9th is anything to go by I think our 4th could be transformed into a truly exceptional hole. Will keep you posted.
Work began on Monday so the hole is closed until further notice. I can reveal the cunning plan to keep the course with 18 holes in play involves playing an extra par 3 which has been sneaked in as follows; play from the 7th tee to a temporary green placed just short the right hand bunker (about 100 yards short of the summer green - you will see it!) and then walk to the left side of the 7th and play from the 150 yard marker to the 7th summer green.
11th hole
By the way while we have the digger Nick has also opened up the ditch in front of the 11th tee, another project that has been started.
Stay Warm This Winter
We have had a great season regarding weather, and only now have we seen a drop in temperature. Make sure you wrap up! I have various styles of jumpers in stock, some crested and others not crested, come in and take a look so you stay warm this winter.
Christmas Draw
The Christmas draw is back, with ten great prizes up for grabs. First prize this year is a Motocaddy S1 Electric Trolley. Second is a Ping Cart Bag and third is a Skycaddie Aire. You have to be in it to win it! 1 square = 50p 12 squares = £5 30 squares = £10 click here to see all 10 prizes.
Alex Wigley has settled in at The Vale very quickly, and has had back to back wins. Alex, whose handicap was 10, scored a magnificent 7 up to win Saturday's bogey bisque by 2. Well done to Alex who is now playing off 8! Alex is currently at the top of the order of merit with 200 points, but it is still anyone's for the taking. Second with a very good score was Paul Wade with 5 up, Ken Whitlow finished third with 4 up beating several on a card play-off. I think once you get your head fully around it bogey bisque is a good format.
There were only 4 two's on Saturday each worth £23.00!
Last week I told you about Paul Donohue, who had fallen out with his own driver and resorted to using anything off the tee that he could keep in play. The new Titleist 915 driver was out of its box and into Paul's bag in the blink of an eye. Paul took it out again on Sunday morning, and won my Pro's stableford with a score of 36 points. Paul said the driver has completely changed his game. Not only is he achieving a far better flight and more distance, but he feels far more confident than before. In wet conditions with very little run on the ball, which suits the longer hitters, this is Paul's first victory for some time. Paul ordered an identical club as soon as he came in off the course.
David Pilling finished second also on 36 points beating Dave Hamilton on a card play-off. Steve Marsh finished fourth with 34, and Billy Timblin fifth with 33.
2's were a healthy £11.00 each.

Wednesday's Stableford was played in poor conditions and won by Paddy Weadick with 29 points, on countback from Graham Sutherland.
There were no 2's which means it's a roll over to next week.
