Course report

The flood water has all but disappeared so we are almost back to normal, it’s just the damage left by the flood at the 7th which needs a little time to recover. The pump that had done countless hours service finally burnt out the other day and was replaced with a new one immediately. Thanks to Brian Cole for supplying the new pump so quickly.

Horror stories

I can tell you the rain and flooding has caused much greater issues at other golf clubs. The Mersey courses were probably be the hardest hit, with Withington deliberately flooded to ease the strain on The Mersey. Tim Maxwell rang me last week and said their Maxitours event scheduled for Didsbury was not possible and asked if we could have it here. 138 people played yesterday and many had not played here before, but they liked the course very much.

Brookdale have lost a wooden bridge at the bottom of a big hill. Imagine playing down our 6th and crossing a bridge to the next tee. Brookdale’s equivalent bridge has now gone and they have to walk all the way back up the hill, cross another bridge and walk down the other side, to play a hole going back up the hill! They think it will be a minimum of a year before its back.

Last Friday Daniel played in The Cheshire Boys’ Championship at Delamere, shooting 87 - 6 = 81 in the morning and 76 – 6 = 70 in the afternoon, so a big improvement. The SSS was 73.

President's Weekend

I would like to wish our club President David Ibbotson a great President's Weekend and good luck to all who play. If you would like to attend for what promises to be a great night on Saturday evening at the club, I think there may be the odd ticket left'.

Great score Shaun. Well done and another great score for one of the GPS trolleys! Spare a thought for Cole Parkinson who scored 81-20=61 and lost on count back!
