New rentals – PowaKaddy GPS

Two of our rental fleet of trolleys are different to the rest.

We have two new PowaKaddy FW5 electric trolleys that have GPS. Rather than carrying a separate unit for your yardages to the front, middle and back of the green, these are displayed upon the screen of the trolley. It knows exactly where you are all the time, moves on automatically and constantly gives you the correct yardage, so its very handy indeed. It can’t find our ball yet though, perhaps in the future…

If you are thinking of investing in a new electric trolley I recommend that you give these a try. If you don’t want the initial cost nor the hassle of lugging a trolley round, charging the battery etc just rent ours.

Our fastest selling range of any clubs to date!

The reason is because their performance is fantastic. I ordered more fairway woods this week so sorry if the one you wanted was out of stock – a visitor wiped out all the SFT fairways this week commenting each club was £20 cheaper than at a well-known local retailer! I have also ordered some stiff shafted fairway woods and utility clubs so feel free to borrow our demos and test them.

The G410 driver is more adjustable than previous models, and we also learnt only this week that you can change the lie angle on the driver as well as the loft.

‘Not that important because it shouldn’t contact the ground at impact’ I hear you say; but it’s all about getting your hands in the right position and feeling comfortable at address. Adjust our demo driver, take it out and see the difference it makes.

If you are ready for an upgrade I recommend the G410 range as extremely difficult to beat.

Junior news

Representing the county

Daniel played in his first county match last week for Cheshire under 14’s against Shropshire and Herefordshire under 14’s.

Daniel said he and playing partner Alfie Arnold (it was 4BBB), played okay and enjoyed the day, but came up against two players each off 17 that Daniel reckoned should have been off about 10. Needless to say things didn’t go their way and I don’t think Cheshire won a point. Do feel free to ask Daniel about the S&H handicaps policy!

Our juniors have another match on Sunday, this time away against Romiley in the Derbyshire & Cheshire knockout (not the BMW which is the other one!) None of the juniors had played Romiley before so on Tuesday night they all went for a practice round. I walked three holes with the lads, and they all thought the course was pretty decent all looked to be playing quite well. Romiley have three juniors with low handicaps of 2, 3 & 6, so we lose a few shots with the maximum handicap being 21, but our juniors are very excited and up for the challenge. Good luck on Sunday.

Invitation Day

The format of our Invitation Day on Saturday 22nd June is fourball better ball. So you are competing as a pair, with each pair consisting of one member and one guest. You only need to find one guest and you can play. Since last week, several people have put down on the entry sheet which is on BRS. Remember, tee times are on a rolling basis so you can play whatever time suits you or your guest.

By then we should also have a new caterer in place. I have seen some of the proposed menus and I can tell you they look superb. And we won’t have the mad lunch time scramble in the restaurant, Pro Shop, or on car park that two shotgun starts in one day created!

As the name suggests, the idea is that you invite a guest or guests. This year we will have a system of making games up nearer the time as we want the return of a successful invitation day and a full field. You know; members looking for a guest, members with more than one guest, ex members (guests) still receiving the newsletter who wish to play - get in touch and we will do the rest.

Ladies Taster Day

This year’s Ladies Taster Day will take place on Sunday 19th May between 12pm-2pm. Please bring anyone along who is showing an interest in taking up golf. You don’t need to bring anything, just turn up and enjoy the day.
