It can only be good for golf

Tiger Woods rolled back the years by winning his first US Masters since 2005 and his first Major since the 2008 US Open. Tiger played very solid for the four days, I thought things went his way a bit, but most importantly he didn’t make any big mistakes and the others did.

In case you missed it (perhaps watching Liverpool v Chelsea) The Masters was a very close finish indeed and several players could have won. Tiger showed his experience playing safe and not really trying to force anything which really paid off. I think it’s good for golf that Tiger Woods has won again.

Very few Professional sportsmen/women are able to overcome adversity and make successful comebacks years later. When very good golfers run into trouble and have to change their technique to combat physical changes such as injury - Seve Ballesteros springs to mind – things tend to go the way of the pear.

Ben Hogan recovered to win again after being told he may never walk again, let alone play golf following a severe car crash. After his numerous knee and back operations, I would liken the achievement of Tiger Woods to that of Ben Hogan.

Junior Schedule

The junior’s itinerary this year is jam packed with lots of events for them to play in. The first big event of the year will be playing in the BMW Trophy (Similar to the Dunham) where they have been drawn away against Dunham Forest.

On Tuesday the junior’s enjoyed a trip over to play a practice round ready for the main event on Saturday. 5 of our juniors will represent RVGC at Dunham Forest in the match – we will also be taking a few reserves along on the day. Best of look to all our juniors! The juniors have been treated to team shirts (like the Dunham and seniors shirts) which were kindly sponsored by a club member – Thank you.

Today they have played a competition with some playing an 18 hole yellow tee stableford and others playing in a 12 hole blue tee stableford. Also on Sunday we have an Easter Stableford for them to play in.
