Saturday’s Pro’s Cross Country
I hope you enjoyed what was an eventful cross country this year. Derek Wilson had a hole in one at the final hole (3rd tee to 5th green) which was Derek’s second hole in one in just over a month. Pete Lamb almost had a hole in one at the second (13th bunker to 17th green) winning the closest to the pin with a shot which rolled less than a foot past the hole.
Tony Lyons almost holed in one at the 11th (13th tee to 6th green) with a shot that finished about an inch away from the hole. This hole from the 13th tee to the 6th green seemed to provoke most comment and this was indeed a good hole we hadn’t played from that position before. The lone oak behind the 17th green should have been a good marker on at least three occasions, before you played from right next to it. Thank you for an excellent field and for all the positive comments about the course, we really appreciate it.
I must thank the greens staff for setting up the course as they were there at 5.30 am on Saturday morning and did a fantastic job. Result as follows:
1st – Mick Burke, Fionn Davenport & Richard Capener – 73 points
2nd – John Ford, Crispian Logue & Mike Short – 71 points
3rd – Duncan Hayes, Joe Pagett & John Wright – 69 points
Derek Wilson had yet another hole in 1 – this time on the 16th Hole (1st rough to 5th green)
Derek takes half the two’s pot which is split between his team mates.
