Welcome to the new website and newsletter as promised. Quite a few people have commented this week that they liked the previous newsletter and would be sorry to see it go, so thanks for those comments, but the reason I have decided to change is because I think this will be even better. The new websites are optimised for all devices, such as mobile phones, iPads and desktop computers.

In fact there will be a number of changes and improvements planned for 2014, this is just one of them. I am currently working on an indoor swing studio that will contain a simulator with the latest cutting edge technology. This will allow lessons to be conducted in the warm and dry (whatever it's like outside!), and the level of technology in the golf simulator will provide a level of custom fitting second to none. There is still work to prepare the room, and the lead time for the simulator is several weeks but I am looking forward to welcoming golfers to the studio as soon as possible. Will keep you updated!
National Golf Month - May
Too many people in general are missing out on the enjoyment of playing golf. This fun pastime provides companionship, competition, exercise and should provide stress relief! More people should be playing so with May being national golf month, what better time to target some beginners/lapsed golfers and get them going? For the month of May, I will provide coaching at half price to any beginners that are not already members of the club. Here is a chance for people to be introduced to Reddish Vale who are not members, but who want to have a go. Perhaps you have friends or family who have shown an interest and would like to give golf a try? Please contact Abbie or myself in The Pro Shop as we want to get them golfing.
Ladies group lessons
The ladies section at Reddish Vale is under represented at present. I am planning a course of four starter sessions in May for anyone interested. This series of group lessons is aimed at beginners, but anyone is welcome to join in. If you know any potential lady golfers be them friends or family, please contact us in The Pro Shop.
I can always organise lessons to fit the bill. If you have any ideas of how to get certain people started, for example a shared lesson where you introduce a friend, that is fine and I will charge at the same rate as a single pupil.
Presentation
The Presentation date has been changed from Saturday 8th to Saturday 22nd March. This is Captain Ian Doyle's final Presentation so please come and support the Captain for a final time.
New stock this week
PING clothing - never done this before but couldn't resist it as it looks so smart.
PING Golf bags - very colourful this year, some lovely ones.
PING S55 and i25 - iron demo's in now so please give them a try. Is the S55 is the most attractive PING iron ever made? I think it is! This is no shovel, it's a beautiful players club with a narrow top edge. Even the back of the head looks great.
PING gloves - A new line again and a top quality versatile glove. Special 2 for £20
Great turnout continues in Saturdays comps. 102 people played in the 3 Man Texas Scramble, there were some fantastic scores, the best being Mark Watkins, Steve Cole and Mike Canning with 55.4, second was Graham Briscoe, Graham Taylor and Graham Kennedy. Third was won on a card play-off with John Ford, Chris Logue and Mike Short beating Mike Radcliffe, Graham Hadfield and Colin Barr with scores of 56.6.
Order of Merit
With only 4 more competitions until the Winter OOM is completed Derek Simpkins and Tony Barnes are still leading with 34 points. It is still anyone's as it's only going to take a couple of good rounds to fly up the leaderboard.

Wednesday's Stableford was won by Adam Stott, scoring a 65 gross for 37 points, and this is Adam's first victory after officially becoming an amateur again! Alan Finney was just a shot off the lead finishing second with 36 pts. Mike Thompson is the man in form and managed to stay in the prizes off his new handicap of 15 scoring 35 pts.
