Practice Ground
The Practice ground has been closed this week due to the work being done. On Friday last week it was re-seeded so hopefully they will germinate and take hold before either the winter kicks in or the birds hoover them up. Please note that I am still giving golf lessons as normal.
Lady Captain's Day
Last Thursday was Lady Captain's Day; Lady Captain Sheila Brookes was joined on the tee by The Captain and President who came to support the ladies.
Well done Sheila Cowlard (pictured) who was the winner on the Day with a nett 74.
By some coincidence both Gary Hill's 6 and 8 iron had both fallen in two over recent weeks. Gary decided it was time to get them sorted before the overworked 7 iron gave up the ghost as well. Gary brought in the wreckage on Wednesday, replacement shafts were fitted and they were ready for use on Saturday - which was Gary's first outing with a complete set of irons for some time. Gary's 70-4=66 won division 1 in style which has more than paid for the re-shafts and Gary is nearly back down to 3. Gary and Ryan Jackson share the prize for the lowest gross.
Greg Mitchell won Division 2 with 80-16=64; Greg continues to improve and has now reduced his handicap from 16 to 14 this year. Division 3 was won by Graham Taylor with 87-18=69.
Wednesday's winners were Dean Martin, Lee Costello (who had the score of the day with 40 points) and Ray Juskiw.
Buggies
Use of a buggy can really speed up your round and save precious energy, especially you know where.
Just to remind you, our member's rate for 18 holes using a buggy is £14.00.
For buggies taken later in the day we do a twilight rate to members of £10.00.
And there is also a 'star buy' of £200 for 20 hires, for the more regular user.
Victory Trophy
The final major of the year is three Majors rolled into one, with the Club Championship and The Seniors Championship being played in conjunction with The Victory Trophy. The draw for both Saturday and Sunday is already on BRS. If you are not in the draw and would like to play, please contact us in The Pro Shop as we can add you to any 2's in the draw.
To win overall prizes and get your name up there in gold you need to play both rounds, but if you can't play both days it is still well worth playing in one or the other as there are day prizes. Good luck to all who play.
Exchange day with Didsbury
Please not that on Saturday 27th September we have an exchange day with Didsbury Golf Club. You can enter on our BRS system as normal, but the time you book will be for the first tee at Didsbury. The members of Didsbury Golf Club will be here at Reddish. Didsbury is a good course and the format of the day will be a stableford so be a part of it.
The Presentation which is in the club diary for the 27th has been brought forward one week and will now take place on Saturday 20th September at 6.00.
