Coloured balls have made a remarkable comeback and they don’t come any brighter or more vivid than the Volvik ‘Vivid’ range which is in your Pro Shop now – another new brand for us.

Daniel call up for Cheshire boys next year

We were pleased to receive an email from Mike Jones, the Cheshire boys team manager this week asking if Daniel is interested in playing county boys matches next year. The answer is a resounding ‘yes’ so well done Daniel once again.

Junior Coaching

The junior coaching is working wonders and we now have juniors playing golf together regularly. The tier structure in place ensures the juniors will develop through the programme and only when ready to they take the next steps to head out onto the golf course. The new Blue Tees will create a starting point for them to make the golf course that bit easier, and they can obtain handicaps and gain confidence until they are ready to move back to the red or yellow tees.

It has been great to watch the intermediate juniors develop so much this summer, they have been out on the golf course virtually every day and their handicaps have reduced massively.

Junior Progress

Through the summer holidays we ran a ‘junior order of merit’, six competitions for our juniors to compete in, each comp with its own prizes and also counting towards an overall prize, the coveted Order Of Merit.
It definitely brought the competitive edge from the juniors, and OOM points were keenly contested over the weeks. With one event to go, Junior Captain Harry Darby was leading with 510 points, with Cole Parkinson on 475 and Daniel Myers on 470 who could still catch him. The final event was on Sunday which was the first time some had played a bogey event.

Cole Parkinson’s score of level won the competition, and the 100 OOM points meant that he was the overall winner. So our 2018 JOOM Champion is Cole Parkinson with 575 points. Despite missing the first event Cole still managed to gain enough points to win by 55 points from Daniel Myers, with Harry finishing third.
Cole and his brother Luke Parkinson are 11 year old twins who joined us from Fairfield a few weeks ago. They also happen to be Dean Martin’s nephews so they are from a sporting family and it’s fair to say they have fitted in very well and are showing very good promise indeed. Cole and Luke played off 44 handicaps when they joined and now play off 26 – there is only one way these will go because they are naturals. As you would expect they are remarkably similar in ability, have very similar and very good swings -the biggest job is telling them apart.

To follow on from this we will be hosting a Junior Presentation (The date to still be confirmed) where everyone is welcome to attend.

Ladies Group Coaching – More ladies

Abbie and I are conducting the ladies coaching. It is great fun for all concerned and the group is building nicely. Our new ladies are very enthusiastic and bring a lot of energy to the practice ground where they can learn and develop the skills they need before taking on the course.
