Jubilee Trophy Round 1 & 2

If you didn’t know Vinny Kilcullen is back at The Vale, and Vinny leads after the first two rounds of The Jubilee with net scores of 64 and 69. Vinny said that he played well and making eagle on the 15th on both days really helped.

Vinny also mentioned that unfortunately he is still away on holiday on the day of the 3rd round so won’t be here to play in it – and needs a monsoon or similar here at Reddish to have any chance of winning the overall prize!
I think a total of only eighteen players managed all four rounds of The Jubilee last year.

It is worth playing in any round of The Jubilee that you can, because there are several prizes for each of the four days as well as for the overall.

Most valuable 2?

Ben McCumesky has enjoyed a good week. Ben scored a net 66 on Saturday to reduce his handicap from 20 to 18, and last night Ben managed the first two in the history of ‘Twilight Golf club’, after the pot had rolled over five times. The ‘2’ came at the 9th and is worth a total of £107.00.

Last night 25 people played in the nine-hole competition which is really taking off. Men and ladies, all categories of members, member’s guests and any visitors are welcome to play in this event. New members who would like cards marking for handicaps please turn up and join in.

This event/competition couldn’t be more user friendly; it’s easier for people to get a game and for novices and newcomers it is a type of introduction to, and potential ‘fast track’ into the club.

Last night’s event was won by our very own Duncan Cheslett.

Div 3 Winner – Les Jones – 87-18=69

Well done to all winners and I hope to see you at tomorrow night’s presentation – don’t forget you do need to get changed into formal attire to receive your voucher from The Captain. There are lots of unclaimed vouchers from The Captain’s first presentation meeting, so if you couldn’t make it last time please turn up and collect them.

And if you haven’t won a prize it is well worth going for the banter alone, and not to mention the FREE pint courtesy of the golf club for everyone who attends.

Voucher system reminder

Saturday competition vouchers are not automatically credited to your account in The Pro Shop like other competition vouchers are. You need to attend a presentation wearing jacket and tie to collect them as described above.

If you send an apology to The Captain for non-attendance they are still not credited automatically, they are yours to collect at the next meeting.

US Open

Shinnecock Hills is possibly the toughest course on the US Open rota so you can expect to see the best players in the world play all sorts of recovery shots this weekend.

I think it makes the viewing more interesting than just watching a putting competition so I am looking forward to it.
