Wednesday Section Chairman’s Prize
We had yet again another playoff, this time between John Seaton and Chris Marshall who both shot 69 netts. Chris Marshall who plays off 16 had one of the best top 5’s I think I’ve ever seen. Chris started 4, 3, 3, 2, 3 to be 3 under gross after 5!
Dunham Trophy
Thank you to all members who played, supported, caddied and contributed during this year’s Dunham Trophy. This has been our most successful performance for many years and reaching the finals day was a major success in itself.
Things were close for a while until Manchester Golf Club turned up the heat, beating us 5 ½ to 1 ½ in the semi-final on Saturday morning. Vaughan Stott is worthy of a special mention as he won his point and Ryan Jackson got the half. On average our players were receiving a couple of shots each off the Manchester team, whom I believe have reached the finals day something like six times in the last seven years. Manchester went on to win the final in the afternoon, defeating Bolton Old Links by a similar margin to what they beat us.
It was disappointing that Abbie or I were unable play in this year’s Dunham Trophy, but as it turned out the matches were all so one sided that the only time it even made a difference was in the 4-3 win at Wigan. We are very hopeful of being back next year.
