Junior Coaching
I am pleased to say that we are building up to having a junior section, on Sunday I held junior coaching and had 20+ juniors turn up. They were all really keen and showing great potential. The junior lessons will now take place approximately every 3 weeks.
Proquip Waterproofs!
Just in time for July but now is a good time to buy these because they are a bargain. I have got a great deal on some new Proquip Waterproof suits mainly because of the time of year and so can you? Proquip Tourflex 360 suits are very light, breathable and don't rustle. All have a 3 year waterproof guarantee.
The Jackets were £119, now only £79.99 (The Jackets come in black, Iron Grey or Red) and the Trousers were £79 and are now £59.99. Get a full suit and save another £10, that's over 30% off.
Mr President's Prize
We still don't know the winner but it's down to two. Dean Martin and Chris Shaw finished tied on 3 up over the two rounds and will play off to decide the winner. Like the Founders Trophy they will both go out individually with a marker to make the game fair. The play-off will be played in roughly two weeks' time, good luck to both!
Founders Trophy
Ryan Jackson has his hands on the trophy he won at last. The Captain presented the trophy at Saturday's meeting, thank you to all those who attended.
If you win a prize in a Saturday competition you are expected to attend the next presentation meeting and receive the prize from The Captain. If you cannot attend for whatever reason, a written apology to The Captain is the right etiquette, and then attendance as soon as possible to collect your unclaimed voucher at a future meeting. Here is the list of unclaimed vouchers. If your name is on it, the next presentation is on Saturday 26th July at 6.00.
Alex wins by 4 points
Well done to Alex Stones who won Sunday's Stableford with an incredible 41 points; Alex said it was thanks to the fact the greens are so good, he felt confident and the putts were dropping. Alex's handicap has been reduced from 12 to 11. Bill Graty finished second with a solid 37 points.
There were 4 two's each worth £9.75. Click here for the full results.
Wednesday Section
There were some great scores in Wednesday's Medal. Paul Temple won Div 1 with 74-7=67. The best score of the day was Div 2 Winner Graham Withnall with 77-12=65; Graham's handicap is now back to 10 and at the moment Graham looks favourite to win this year's bet with Andy Covell and get his £10 back!
Div 3 was won by Darren Bourne with 89-18=71. Darren had a lesson recently and I must say his ball striking is quite awesome. However, a strong right hand position was causing a closed clubface at impact, and more than a few lefts - ruining Darren's scores. Darren's right hand is now in a more neutral position as you can see by his score Darren's ball flight is more under control. Darren has also invested in a new Titleist driver and can now hit shots over 300 yards in a straight line! In time, Darren could become a seriously good player.
Andy Hart's score of 81-12=69 is worth a mention as Andy's gross score was two less than his age. This must be one of the best possible ambitions that any golfer could hope to achieve, but one that very few will accomplish. However, Andy just laughs about it as he has been scoring less than his age for years and this is the second time this year.
Andy had been to the gym the night before, had a lesson on Wednesday morning (always a pleasure to teach) and was disappointed the score wasn't better!
