Wear Your RV Crest With Pride
Thank you for choosing to wear Reddish Vale crested clothing this year. Much of the crested stock has sold out already, with the vast majority of shirts gone. This can only indicate a growing pride in the club and is good for everybody. Wear your crest with pride and if people from outside the club comment, tell them how great the place is.
More new stock is on its way, and if you are looking for a different style or size to what you see, we will get it for you. There are numerous brochures for you to choose from, and we can order in whatever you like, plain, club crested and monogrammed clothing too.
Modern Image
Thank you to Jeff Zhang who sent me this remarkable image of a double rainbow he captured while playing the 12th hole. Quite an unusual sight I'm sure you would agree. If anybody has any other good images of the club or course they would like to share, please send them in as we are always interested to see them. I have used some of these images on the club website and this one of the 16th taken by Wes Oakes has been much admired.
Historical Image
Here is the view down the 6th hole looking a bit different to what we see today. As you can see the background is countryside and there was no need to photoshop the Brinnington 'apartments' in those days as they weren't there. I don't know which year this picture was taken but I know it was definitely before 1932. An extract from a guide describing the view from the 6th tee is as follows;
'Arrived at the 6th tee, a beautiful panorama of open country unfolds itself. From here you can view all the remaining holes of the course, whilst far beyond the playing area the hills of Cheshire and Derbyshire roll away in the distance. In fact, it is difficult to realize, as you stand on this tee and watch the last Tame winding its tortuous way through beautifully wooded- parts of the course, that you are actually only five and a half miles from one of the largest cities in the Kingdom, so detached from all bustle and hurry does the country appear'.
US Open Draw
Rickie Fowler leads the way after an impressive seven under par 65 in the first round of the US Open at Erin Hills. This weekend we have a US Open prize draw so you can win credit to put towards your next investment from the Pro Shop.
Saturday 3 Man Texas Scramble
Saturday's 3 man Texas Scramble was cancelled. This was the scene at 7.30am and as you can see, due to the heavy overnight rain, the course is totally unplayable - and all 18 greens were the same, completely flooded. The rain lasted less time than the forecast suggested, and was playable again by about 11.30. But even if I had looked into the Pro Shop crystal ball at 7.30 and known this would be the case, four hour rain delays are not what we do, and I dread to imagine the confusion and inconvenience this farcical scenario would create.
