4 for 3 on lessons - ends March 31st

This winter has already set a new record for players taking advantage of our 4 for 3 on lessons offer, and there is still time for more. The 4 for the price of 3 on golf tuition is available until the end of March.

The swing studio has made a remarkable difference in the winter. You can enjoy your tuition in the comfort of the swing studio which is always warm and dry. Some people have regular evening lessons after they have finished work and it's dark outside.

If you want to play better golf this season make up your mind to do something about it and give yourself a massive head start. Give us a call, email, or click here and we can book you in, the new season is only a few weeks away.

Club news

Storm Doris

If you came to the club yesterday you would have been met with a most unusual sight - the shutters down on the Pro Shop! I thought Storm Doris was going to tear the signage off the windows on the car park side. Anyway, it did cause some trouble yesterday, but thankfully not too much here at the golf club. Despite 18mm of rain yesterday, the river didn't come over and after a course survey by drone this morning Nick said that trees appear to still be standing. One large tree came down blocking one side of Reddish Road (just by the speed camera at the bottom of the road) but it had gone this morning. Normally we would be looking at a very wet course today but Nick's work on the drainage this winter is already paying off.

The two previous worst greens for holding water, the 1st and the 10th, are both dry and only the 16th green (which I think is on the list for next winter) has a small puddle. I think it's fair to say Nick 1 - Doris 0.

New arrivals

- MacGregor package sets
- More Sunderland waterproof trousers - just about all sizes in stock again
- Titleist umbrellas
- 19865 tee pegs

Shop news

Thank you loyal customers

Thank you to everyone who supports their Pro Shop. We pride ourselves on the service we provide you with and we are looking forward to the coming season. Only a few weeks to go…

We have the latest equipment and technology to help you improve your game.  You can try a bigger range of products than ever before and you can try before you buy and take our demos out onto the course if you wish.  You can also try out our many products in a custom fitting session with a PGA Professionals advice and guidance on the Foresight GC2. You can compare your clubs to the latest equipment and find the one that improves your game.

We customise your new clubs perfectly to suit your swing. We believe our after sales service is second to none. So thank you for your support!

Special offer RED

FREE grip on your 7 iron

New grips will transform the feel of your irons, especially if the previous grips were shiny and worn. The main benefit is that you can hold the club lighter. Correct grip size plays a crucial role too as this will determine the positioning of the hands on the club and the hand action throughout the swing.

Same day service, fitting is FREE of charge, and we currently have a special offer of 6 for 5 on all grips as well as a FREE grip on your 7 iron if you want to try before you buy.

Competition news

'Silly' scores winning competitions have been a common topic of conversation this winter, but during this winter we have played lift clean and place anywhere on the course and drop out of bunkers if you wish. You can also play it off a mat from the rough so this winter's rules have been exceptionally helpful and I would estimate this makes a difference of around 3 or 4 shots per round to the average player - that's the difference between 38/39 and 42 in a stableford!

Saturday's Texas Scramble

1st - Paul Mumford, Brian Fitzsimmons & Geoff Loughlin
2nd - Adie Ord, Alex Wigley & Jeff Crewdson
3rd - John Northrop, Tim Crampton & Anthony Phillips
4th - Ryan Jackson, Ryan Swift & Louis Covell

Two's = £1 ppp2.

Sunday's Pro's Stableford

Andy White managed to fend off David Pilling (2nd) and Robert Little (3rd) on countback to take first place, all scoring 42 points.

Two's = £4.33 ppp2. Click here to see the full results.

Wednesday's Pro's Stableford

Wasif Yousaf  took the winner's spot with 40 points, Mike Thompson claimed second place with 39 points, and Paddy Weadick came third after countback with 36 points

Two's = £4.50 ppp2. Click here to see the full results.

GolfSixes

Aiming for a younger demographic

The European Tour have introduced some innovative ideas for the season ahead. The World Super 6 combined 54 holes of stroke play with a final-day knockout, whilst GolfSixes, which takes place later in the year, sees two-man teams battle it out over six holes in a group stage, before progressing to a final-day knockout.
