Shop news

Sunderland Vancouver Waterproofs

We had a delivery of more new Sunderland Waterproof Jackets. Few companies offer the quality of product at the prices that Sunderland of Scotland do.

The Vancouver Jackets come in 11 different colour options and the sizes run from S-XXXL. Jackets have a 3 year waterproof guarantee and are fantastic value at just £79.99. The matching trousers are £59.99, and if you buy a full suit you save £10, so it will only cost you £130

Sunderland is also a company who still make a physical brochure which you can find in the shop, so please take a look. We can order any product and have it crested with the club crest if you wish.

Spikes

We have been doing a lot of re-spikes this week, and as the course is suddenly wetter a few people have struggled staying on their feet. Make sure you check your spikes before going out on the course.

Metal spikes give better grip than the plastic cleats in muddy or icy conditions because they aren't as easily clogged up. This means increased safety and lower scores. Your Pro Shop sells spikes individually; we fit them free and usually while you wait.

Christmas Draw

Yes it is just a mere six weeks to Christmas! So the Pro Shop Christmas draw, complete with a host of fantastic prizes, will be available from this weekend. So far we have had a different winner every year during my time at Reddish Vale, and you never know this year it could be you.

Course news

The pipe pictured below was part of the drainage system around the first green, until this week, when as part of the winter programme, the greens staff excavated it. It's no wonder that the first green has been susceptible to flooding because as you can see, the pipe is completely blocked with earth.

The system is currently being replaced so scenes like that shown in the picture below, which I took during this year's Captain's Prize, should be less common in future. Sorry this pipe won't be on display on the Pro Shop Counter for you to peruse this week as it is far too wet and filthy, but it is outside by the entrance to the men's locker room if you wish to examine further.

Assistants news

The next Junior Coaching will be on Saturday 20th November. Throughout the winter, the coaching sessions will be indoors in the function room so 'no golf footwear' please. This session will be at 2pm-3pm and is open to all ages, with only 10 spaces available. I have organised some new golf games for the children to play so it promises to be good fun. Please contact the Pro Shop to book your child into the coaching session as it will be on a first come first serve basis.

The cost is £4 per child.
