Skycaddie
A cursory gaze towards a 150 yard marker, and then wondering halfway through your back swing if this is to the front or middle of the green. If this is you it may be time to invest in a Skycaddie! They are in your Pro Shop now.
Benross - Seniors and ladies in now
The new seniors flex and ladies irons now in store and they look great. The senior range is distinctive with the gold shafts which are a touch lighter and more flexible than your average set. The Seniors Gold Legend Irons are extremely forgiving; they have the wide sole and large cavity back with a slight offset hosels which maximize feel and playability. Lots of players could benefit from this new range of clubs so feel free to try my demos. Take them out on the course and judge for yourself.
Benross are affordable clubs with top of the range components. How do they do this? They don't sponsor and pay the wages of the tour pro's to use their products like Nike and Taylor Made etc. Hence their motto 'you're our tour Pro' as these are made for the club golfer. Make Benross your choice.
The Ladies Jewel Pearl Irons have the classic ladies design; they have a large cavity back and offset hosels which allow for maximum forgiveness and feel. With the Aldila Ladies shaft these are lightweight and easy to use. Try our demo in store.
PING Ketsch
It's arrived! They look fantastic; as soon as it came out of the box I put it to the test on the putting green. The head is black and it has one particularly long white line on the top which really stands out, making the process of lining up easier. It is a slightly heavier putter than usual which helps it to hold its line well during a stroke. It has the TR insert. This stands for True Roll as no matter where you strike it from in the face; heel or toe, low or high the ball doesn't skid and always rolls the same distance. I can see why Lee Westwood got it in the bag so quickly.

Invitation result
Nick and his team were on the golf course at 4.30 on Saturday morning. Nick admitted that as they squeegeed the greens and the rain was still pouring down, he thought it was going to be a lost cause and the day would be lost.
Anyway, the rain stopped and three or four squeegees later they had somehow managed to make the course playable. At 7.30 the greens looked great, with just a few puddles in the usual places on some of the fairways. 20 pairs played in the 8.45 shotgun, which Bob Kelsall and his partner Toby Rexstraw from Denton won with 42 points. Toby was very complimentary about the course in general during his speech and it was his couple of four pointers on the back nine which made the difference.
27 pairs went out in the afternoon shotgun which was won by Barry Hammond and his partner Tony Cox from Romiley with 41 points. To see the prize winners, scores and 2's for both shotguns click here.
Despite the dodgy weather and wet conditions, every comment I heard about the golf course in general was that it was excellent. I listened to every winner's speech from both shotguns and likewise, every comment echoed the same reaction that guests were taken aback with how magnificent the golf course is.
Things looked ok the following morning at 7.30 but within half an hour we had the type of deluge you can't get away with. Heavy rain made the greens unplayable at about 8.00 so those who entered my Pro's stableford on Sunday have a credit for next time.
Gents Invitation Day 2 on a Sunday
If a little busy at lunch time as the morning group finishes and the afternoon group arrives, the double shotgun format works well for the atmosphere in the clubhouse and presentations being well attended afterwards. Perhaps the morning start is a little early for those who need to travel and hence the morning entry is always quite low.
However, the second invitation day to be played later in the year will this time be played on a Sunday. Sunday 10th August to be exact - and with a rolling start. This will allow all 6 and 7 day members to invite guests from other clubs and on a more sociable day of the week. Hopefully these guests will not have their own club competitions to play in on a Sunday, as is often the case on a Saturday. And as this is a rolling start, you and your partner can choose what time is convenient for you to play. You could even get a bacon butty or a breakfast before you play, and why not make a full day of it with food afterwards as well? The restaurant will not be under the strain of a shotgun this time. The bookings for a rolling start will also be on BRS so you can take a look at the times, see who's playing and book your times online.
We all know how special the golf course is and how proud we can be of it. It should be in absolutely peak condition at this time so please make a note of the date and treat a guest to a day out at Reddish Vale.
Past Captains
The sheet for The Past Captain's Trophy will be up on the window tomorrow. Make sure you get your name down before Thursday evening.
Wednesday Stableford
Adam Stott was telling me how poorly he had been playing earlier in the week, but of course this is all relative and with this game things can turn around quickly. Adam's 6 under par gross 63 won division 1 with 39 points and put Adam's handicap back to +4. The score is low enough to be a course record, but the course set-up made this impossible with I believe, the 11th tee once again too far forward. Adam said he didn't really play that well either, six greens missed, six up and downs but what made the score was the fact he had only 25 putts and one putted each green from the 8th to the 14th. Anyway, it is another fantastic score from an excellent player which was enough to thwart Mike Radcliffe's 39 on back nine play off.
'Golden' Graham Davies (pictured) is back on form and made it back to back wins in Division 2, this week with 37 points. Graham has reduced his handicap to 11.2 and is on course to achieve his goal of playing off single figures. Division 3 was won by Duncan Cheslett with 36 points.
There were 11 two's on Wednesday worth £7.63 each.
