New Hire Trolleys
This week a new rental fleet of six Motocaddy machines has arrived, all brand new and all powered by 36 hole lithium batteries.
After stocking Motocaddy trolleys for a few years now, I know how reliable and long lasting they are and I have total confidence in these machines to make light work of the heaviest bag or the steepest hill. These are lighter machines and easier to manage than the previous Powakaddy fleet.
Try before you buy
Play up to 4 rounds with one of the new hire trolleys, and have the cost deducted from any electric trolley you then purchase.
Currently in stock are the Motocaddy S1, S3, M1 Pro and M3 Pro in addition to the Powakaddy Freeway 3. The M series is the compact one which folds into a small space.

Unlimited use of my hire trolleys - £150 per person per year.
Old Trolleys
Don't throw money at old trolleys. Replace them like I have! You do not want a machine that lets you down, and by the time you have replaced a few parts and then it needs a new battery you could have bought a new one with a warranty. Remember, when you buy from me you have the peace of mind that the after sales service is convenient and second to none. For example if your battery or trolley has a problem in its warranty period you use my rentals free of charge until yours is repaired - which I take care of. This is a very different level of service than you receive from a 'High Street' shop or off the internet!
Murray Golf
Another lovely range from Murray Golf with some new styles is in stock now. Take a look when you're next in.
PING Collection
Buy two PING shirts and receive a PING Sensor Tech Glove Free, worth £12.00 - throughout May.
By the way the new PING Ketsch putters that I mentioned (as used successfully by Lee Westwood) should have been in last week but they are proving so popular that PING can't manufacture and import them from America fast enough. Expected delivery is now another 2 weeks sorry.
Stromberg Menswear
The new Stromberg catalogue has arrived and you can view it in the pro shop now. I love this range, the trousers are stylish, smart and hard wearing.
Next week I will be placing an order with Stromberg so if you need some new trousers (and the shirts are good too) take a look at the brochure, take your pick and I will add them to the order.
As a bonus I will give away a free leather belt worth £7 with every pair ordered.
Shaft change and then 40 points
My Pro's Running Stableford was played over Sunday and Monday and on extremely fast greens. Before he played early on Sunday, Rob Mahon told me that he was struggling with his driver. Rob explained he thought the regular flex shaft in the driver was too flexible, because he didn't feel he could fully commit to the shot and was having to hold back on the down swing, waiting for the club head to catch up. This is a common feeling for players whose shaft flex is not suited to their swing speed. A player using a flex too stiff will feel they have to force it, and often lose height and distance as a result.
Anyway, I unscrewed a stiff flex shaft from one of my demo's and fitted it in Rob's G25 head. It took less than a minute and Rob was away with the same driver but stiff flex. Rob scored 40 points that day, a score that won the running stableford. Rob said the shaft made all the difference; suddenly he could commit to the shot and didn't miss a single fairway. Using the right equipment can mean the difference between success and failure so needless to say the correct shaft has been ordered from PING. Please borrow my demo's and judge for yourself. Ryan Swift finished second with 38 points beating Phil Booth on a countback. 90 players entered over the two days so prizes went down to eighth.
Hole In One
Mark Watkins ('Watki') has achieved only the third hole in one in my Pro's stableford history on Monday. It was an 8 iron to the 9th and when I asked Watki to describe it he described it as 'an embarrassment!' "I would like to say it was low under the wind, but must admit it was a shocking thinned strike that somehow scuttled all the way up the hill before going in the hole".
Some people have all the luck and this is Watki's fourth ace. All four have come at Reddish Vale, two at the second, one at twelve and now this rather fortuitous one at nine. Mark received half the 2's pot which was £45.00 leaving the other two's worth a mere £3.46 each.
Another feat worthy of a mention was Gareth Eyre's most unusual scorecard which wasn't among the leading scores but did include a 2 at both the 9th and the 18th. Curtis Brokenbrow was on the putting green at the time and saw Gareth's 3 wood approach shot appear from below and disappear into the hole, which I would imagine did some scuttling as well! Founders Trophy concluded
Ryan Jackson, David Platt and Phil Harrison played off on Monday to decide the winner of The Founders Trophy. Each player went off individually with a marker, and didn't know how the others were doing until they were in. Ryan Jackson was first in, and was disappointed with 3 down after losing 14, 15 and 16. David Platt soon arrived with 5 down, and that left Phil Harrison. Phil lost the last to finish 4 down in what was a very close play off. I wonder what happens if there is a tie? Must ask Gary Inman. This is Ryan's first Major victory and I'm sure it won't be his last.
Saturday's Comp was a May Medal and the first round of The Jubilee. Division 1 was won by Barry Hammond with 72-4=68. Barry's efforts on there are proving valuable. Divison 2 was won by Graham Taylor who despite having a 9 on his card finished with a score of 87-17=70, and Neil Blakeley won Division 3 with 92-20=72.
Wednesday Section Medal
Andy Covell won Divison 1 with 75-9=66, Division 2 was won by Graham Davies with 86-12=74. And Division 3 was won by Alan Malone with 89-16=73.
