The Swing Studio is a great asset as we can provide additional, and better, services to you all. I'm delighted to say that use of the studio is increasing all the time, as golfers discover it and how it can help you get better. Lessons take place regardless of the weather, and more players are discovering the benefits of professional tuition. Custom fitting is more precise than ever, and whether it's a new driver or a new set of irons, more players are realising its importance.
You can hire the studio yourself...
Play courses, practice or have a nearest the pin competition. A new favourite of ours is the 15th at Kingbarns, a challenging links par-3 with the beach and sea on the right. Come to think of it, another great hole is the 17th at Sunningdale Country Club, a sloping green which really gathers the ball in towards the pin. Ask Andy MacKenzie who recorded a hole-in-one here! Come and see for yourself.
30 minutes in the studio - £10
60 minutes in the studio - £16
Don't worry if you're unsure of how to use it, we'll give you a quick tutorial and there is a guide on the wall to help you make the most of its many features. If you would like to save time and are interested to know what you are practising, the swing studio is perfect. The practice ranges have no maximum length (or width) so you can hit any club as far, or as wide, as you like. You will know exactly how far and wide every shot has travelled, and then you don't have to pick the balls up either. Just grab your stuff and continue with your day.

David Leadbetter criticised young golf coaches earlier this year for too much reliance on modern technology:
'The problem with a lot of teaching today is that people are working on the effect and not the cause'
In other words, coaches being reliant on technology to blind golfers with numbers and statistics, rather than using these to make improvements to technique.
Here's how it works at Reddish Vale: the GC2 analyses your ball flight and I analyse your swing. We look at the ball flight and explain what is causing it. We can then back chain to the source, and make changes that begin the sequence better. Having taught golf for 20 years before having the benefits of this technology, I know how to improve technique and I believe we have the right balance to achieve this. Lesson prices have remained the same whether they are indoors or out. More people are taking lessons, and it is always rewarding to see players who have recently taken lessons doing well, there are several in this week's results and at next week's presentation. If you would like to improve come and see me because I can help you. All golfing faults are traced back to the source, explained and the means of correction given.
Come and see what we can do for your game. Book a lesson here.
The next Junior Coaching session will be held on Sunday, 31 July. There will be two classes this time with the addition of a beginners' class for the younger children. This will be more manageable and Abbie will be able to spend more time with each child.
The first class will be for beginners (age 5-8) will take place on the practice ground, please meet there for 1pm and the session will last for 1 hour. The cost is £2 per child.
The intermediate class will start at 3pm and run until 5pm. This will be for ages 9+. We will first meet at the practice ground and spend some time working on our technique before heading out onto the course to play a few holes. There will be prizes as always, the cost is £3 per child.
Parents are required to stay and generally help out. Please register your children in the pro shop.
The greenkeepers have done a fantastic job in getting the course in such wonderful condition. If you haven't been down for a few weeks, make sure you do so this weekend - you won't be disappointed.
CONGU, our handicap governing body, has decided to permit clubs to play 9-hole competitions as qualifiers. This is a good idea really because 9-hole competitions take less time, so do fit in better with modern day life. So we are going to give them a try, with our first event held on Friday, 22 July. So please pencil this in your diary and more details will follow in next week's mail.
