FootJoy Apparel
This season's range of FootJoy clothing has gone down a storm - I have already restocked multiple times. We have a good size-run in most of the garments so make sure you're quick to get your size and if you like a garment which is in stock, please buy it to avoid later disappointment. The FootJoy range was ordered in August last year, so much of it will be sold out so can't be re-ordered.
Refurbished Balls
My advice is quite simple - avoid them. The ball is the most regulated piece of equipment and refurbished balls are an unknown quantity. All the second hand balls I sell are 'proper' balls which have simply been cleaned and re-packaged, and will be found on the R&A conforming ball list if you could be bothered. No re-covering or re-painting involved, I would only sell such items as practice balls.
Hybrid vs Fairway Wood
A common question I get asked is:
How far will I hit a rescue/hybrid club compared to a fairway wood?
Well, they are hard to compare because they are totally different beasts and here's why:
The result is that, with a hybrid, the ball flight will be lower than a fairway wood of the same loft. For example, a 21-degree utility club will fly lower and have more roll than a 21 degree (number-7) fairway wood. So if you're looking for a club that generates loft quickly - such as to get you up the 18th - I would go for the 7-wood over the hybrid every time. My question to you would be:
What do you want it to do?
Anyway, you can try two such clubs and compare the height and distance of each using the GC2 in the swing studio. And if you have nothing between a driver and a hybrid club, you have a massive gap between the two. Make sure you get the right club to do the job you want it to, book a fitting in the swing studio and have your questions answered.

Competition Results
For most of Saturday it looked as though we were in for another playoff for a Reddish Vale Major, with five 68s leading the way. That was until Kevin Seaton, who played in the final group, carded a superb 72-5=67 to win The Past Captain's Trophy. Dean Martin finished second with 71-3=68, pipping Sean Briscoe, John Brown and Sam Everett on countback. The lowest gross was shared between Curtis Brokenbrow and John Brown who both had a gross 68.
We had a Pro's Running Stableford on Sunday and Monday, where we had 90 entrants. The best score of the weekend was Tim Crampton's 38 points, beating Bill Graty and Paul Donohue on countback. Fourth was Sean Briscoe with 37 points. Prizes went down to 8th this week. There were 17 twos, each worth £5.30. Click here to see the full results.
Division One of Wednesday's Medal was won by Dave Hamilton with a score of 74-6=68, reducing his handicap back down to five. Steve Booth won Division Two with 78-11=67, so Steve will be able to add another pair of his favourite Stromberg trousers to his collection. Pete Simister won Division Three with 87-18=69 - by a massive eight shots!
