I am very pleased with the new FootJoy range of clothing that appeared this week. I ordered it in September and I can remember finding it hard to resist just ordering everything, but I had forgotten just how good it is. It is bright and colourful, extremely smart and just unbeatable in my opinion. My only criticism is that it is such good quality it lasts too long! I know because some of my shirts still look great and must be three years old now. Anyway 'quality remains long after price is forgotten!' so if you want the best come and get it, you will see many Tour players wearing this exact range this season. Prices start just from £39.99!
This week the new PING G Crossover (hybrid-type long iron) appeared, and some more PING demo irons (left-handed too) for the custom fitting stand in the Swing Studio. To say the PING G series is 'Going like hot cakes' wouldn't be an exaggeration. If you are considering an upgrade, come and try these. The new irons look so good and are so forgiving as the stats on the GC2 prove. You can compare the distances achieved with different specs of club, you can change the head or shaft and compare them again. You can see the differences in side spin, and compare your overall distribution and your consistency with each. The thought of buying clubs blind these days is simply madness!
There is more confusion with this year's Winter Rules, this time with the procedure in bunkers. Here are the rules to follow:
- If your ball lies in a bunker, you may lift your ball, rake the sand and replace the ball without penalty
- If your ball lies in water in a bunker, you may take your ball to the nearest point of relief no nearer the hole, while remaining inside of the bunker and proceed as in number one above
- If you are unable to proceed under rule two because either the bunker is completely flooded or the bunker is partially flooded and it is not possible to take relief without going nearer to the hole, you may take the ball to your nearest point of relief outside of the bunker, no nearer the hole and without penalty.
If you are still confused, come into the pro shop so that I can explain in more detail. The rule that allows you to throw your ball into the hole without penalty is not in force this year! We have a box of 2016 rule books in the pro shop and there are some in the spike bar too. Please feel free to help yourself, they are always worth having in your golf bag just in case and they also make great bedtime reading.
